Maddie x Brier Spring'09
Pups whelped May 26th, 2009- going to new homes in July 2009

Maddie is a heavily-ticked chestnut belton and a darling gal with style all over. She has a very nice build and is one of the classiest females I have known. She runs with a lovely high crackling tail and is full of fun. Maddie is very well put-together and we just love her attitude and did I mention, style? She is always "happy." Happy tail, happy personality. She has great stamina and makes hunting look as though it takes no effort at all.
Maddie is wonderful in the house and goes along with anything asked of her. She is very affectionate and one of our most laid-back females in the home. As a pup, we found that she rarely even needed kenneled at night or when we left. She just never was a chewer or got into any puppy mischief. But, don't let that fool you--as this gal is a hunting dog! She just knows there is nothing to hunt in the house! Maddie has also not been much of a barker.
She has always had a solid, stylish, 12 o'clock tail, point. She retrieves nicely and was not force-trained.
She is a trust-worthy companion and it is hard not to love this gal to pieces. She is very bright, agile, and graceful. This is an awesome breeding. Both Maddie and Brier are stylish, nice range, nice tail placement, beautiful, smooth gait, intelligence, biddability, temperament, and excellent conformation. We can expect beautiful tricolors, black and whites, and the possibility of a chestnut or two.
Maddie is out of our Shay by Luke.
All of our pups are $850.00 either sex, any color. A $200.00 deposit is required. Picking is in the order of deposits received and will not begin until pups are 6 weeks old and have had their first shots and physical examination by the vet.

The puppies eyes are opening and they are really getting around well, now. They will sit up and look around for a bit and go back to sleep. :) They've had their first nail trimming this week.
I have noticed the dark under coat coming out on the tri-color female and male. In fact, I would venture to guess the male will look very much like Luke (the pup even has the tan bum like Luke!). With Luke being Maddie's sire, it is only fitting that her pups could look like him. That is why it is very important to not only look at the sire and dam while searching for your pup, but to look at as many dogs in the pedigree as you can--this will give you a much clearer indication.

I can't believe it's been a month, already. The pups are absolutely adorable! I love this age. They are eating more and more on their own, but still nurse several times a day. Today was their first day outside in the puppy, "day" kennel. They are curious and seem to like it well enough. They have been getting used to a crate and love it! They all go in and snuggle up together, freely. Tonight, they will spend their first night upstairs with the big dogs, as we needed to move Shay downstairs to get ready for whelping her pups. I think these pups are ready and will be fine with the transition.

My gosh are these guys cute! We have to give them temporary names. I like it so much more when talking about them if we use names. But, in just 2 or 3 weeks, they will be leaving us.
They are having a ball and are into everything. They are very curious and bold puppies. The male is such a character. His tail is always wagging--he is happy, happy all the time. He comes running to meet you with such enthusiasm! He is sight-pointing everything. It is so cute. I love this guy let me tell you.
The tricolor gal is a pistol. She is always hunting, playing, or giving her brother the business. She loves attention and people. What a joy she is.
The b/w gal is very stylish and a character. She prances around all perky all the time. She is high-tailed and full of herself. If the big dogs bark at her, well, she'll bark right back! Nope, she doesn't cower and run away, she barks right back with attitude. Too stinking funny!
