"Shay", is a sweet and sassy little black & white bird hunting machine. She rules as Queen of Laurel Mt. Llewellins. Shay is amazing in the grouse woods or the pheasant fields. This gal never tires and will find any bird anywhere. She is swift and graceful on her feet, and nothing short of deadly on any upland bird. Shay was born to hunt birds. She is very intense, very affectionate, and the guys we hunt with always say, "Get out the Bulldozer", because she will go into any cover there is! She doesn't mind the jaggers, briers, and nothing is too thick for this little (35lbs of muscle) girl.
A hunt over Shay is always exciting and is a joy to watch. Her enthusiasm and excitement for the hunt and the birds are contagious!
Shay has been raised predominately on the wild grouse and woodcock of Pennsylvania and Maine, and adjusts her range well in the thickest grouse cover or the fields where she can pin down any pheasant.
Shay is an excellent, full-spirited hunter, brood bitch and loving companion.
Her pups inherit her energy, natural abilities and prey-drive, and her beautiful, thick, silky (and obviously dark) coat. Shay throws a chestnut pup or two, also.
